StatSheet Projects Duke as NCAA Tournament Two Seed: 02/20/2012

StatSheet is projecting Duke as a two seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Blue Devils are currently on track for an automatic bid, but don't need it to retain the invite as they're the #5 team in the AP Poll and sit at #4 in the StatSheet StatRank. They have a 23-4 overall record and a 10-2 record in the ACC.

Over the last four games, Duke registered a quality win against AP #8 North Carolina and wins against Boston College, NC State, and Maryland.

Duke is respectable against top competition, with a 12-4 record against the RPI Top 100 that includes a 6-4 record against the RPI Top 50 and a 5-2 record against AP ranked teams. The Blue Devils boast six quality wins including AP #8 North Carolina, AP #22 Virginia, RPI #29 Colorado State, AP #4 Kansas, and AP #17 Michigan with no bad losses.

The last four teams into the NCAA Tournament with at-large bids are NC State (18-9, 7-5 ACC, StatRank #59), Mississippi State (19-8, 6-6 SEC, StatRank #58), Oregon (19-8, 10-5 Pac 12, StatRank #55), and Washington (19-8, 12-3 Pac 12, StatRank #57).

The first four teams out are Arizona (19-9, 10-5 Pac 12, StatRank #81), Illinois (16-11, 5-9 Big Ten, StatRank #73), LSU (16-10, 6-6 SEC, StatRank #70), and Ole Miss (15-11, 5-7 SEC, StatRank #80).

The next four out are Brigham Young (23-6, 11-3 West Coast, StatRank #50), Colorado (18-8, 10-4 Pac 12, StatRank #73), Minnesota (17-10, 5-9 Big Ten, StatRank #71), and St. Joseph's (PA) (18-10, 8-5 A-10, StatRank #46).
